Overcoming Trouble

          Ever have a friend that would give his life for yours? I can say I did. I was fortunate to have great friends by my side throughout my youth. At the age of eleven, my best friend Andres, and I decided to go swimming in a nearby lake. We made our way to the designated swimming area but quickly grew bored of the waist-high waters. In an effort to challenge ourselves we agreed to swim to the other side of the lake. I swam about forty feet from the shoreline when I came to the realization that my life was in danger. Unable to swallow my ego anymore, I yelled towards my friend in panic, "What if i don't make it to the other side?" He responded with a smile I could never forget and yelled back, "Don't worry, I won’t let that happen to you, and swim on your back. It's easier." I switched my swimming position and felt immediate relief. Eventually I made it to the other side of the lake unharmed. I am forever grateful for Andres and how he helped me get through this troublesome situation.

This is an interesting article from my coworker. The author explains why photographers charge hefty fees for photo shoots. He makes key notes about common expenses photographers incur, fees that most people wouldn’t consider. I highly suggest this article it’s very informative and to the point.

Ted Talk Barry Schwarts

          I replayed this video several times to understand the point he was trying to convey. The speaker Barry Schwarts explains that “You can’t get good help anymore when you give people work to do that is demeaning and soulless.” I formerly worked as a warehouse associate in a wholesale bicycle distributing company and could relate to this theory. I worked for a paycheck and no other reason. Work becomes a constant struggle to stay engaged and remain positive. In the speakers closing statements he enlightens the audience and gives them a sense of purpose, asking them "Just what kind of human nature do you want to help design". This phrase really struck home; we should all strive to create organizations that are challenging, engaging and meaningful.

        My name is Robert Fetner and my plan is to graduate from Florida International University with a bachelors in accounting. I graduated from Miami Dade College with an Associate of Arts on December 2013. Currently I work as a pay-per-click analyst at Showroom Logic in Miami Florida. Showroom Logic is a digital marketing company that specializes in advertising vehicles for automotive dealerships. As I grow as a professional, I hope to one day create a successful business of my own. I believe that my hard work ethics and passion to learn will lead me to a bright future.
